I met Melissa and Patrick last year when they contracted with me for their wedding photography. When I first saw Melissa I couldn't take my eyes off of her beautiful blue eyes. We did their Engagement session last Oct. in Grand Rapids and I had such a good time with them I knew that their wedding would be very special...and I was right!

Melissa and Patrick were married outdoors at the Hagerty Center in Traverse City and the reception was held inside. It's a lovely place and had many interesting areas for photography. Check out a few of my favorites from their wedding day.

Stephanie & Jay's Wedding Day

June 13, 2009 was a perfect day for a wedding. I met up with Stephanie at Profiles Hair and Nail Studio where she got her hair styled. From there we went to Donovan's Serenity & Wellness Spa to meet up with the bridesmaids who where getting manicures and pedicures as well as having their hair styled. By the time we left everyone looked stunning!

As Stephanie's father walked her down the aisle, Jay got his first glimpse her. Their faces tell the rest of the story.

Their beautiful reception was held at Churchill Pointe Inn on Hubbard Lake. Everything was wonderful; from the food to their private dance on the balcony.

Congratulations Steph and Jay...many blessings as you begin your life together!

Fairy Tales do come true...if you want proof just check out Charlie and Kelly's wedding!

When you are in their presence you can almost feel the love that these two have for each other. Charlie was awestruck when he saw Kelly walk down the aisle, and rightly so; Kelly was a knockout in her wedding gown. She looked like a princess as she walked the aisle to begin her life with her prince charming.

Take one glorious day; add in two beautiful people plus the Lake Huron shoreline ... what do you have? A perfect wedding!

Jessica and Vincent (along with their adorable son) were a joy to work with! We began in Lincoln were the outdoor ceremony was held. From there we drove to Harrisville for the Lake Huron shots and then back to Lincoln for the reception. Make sure to check out the picture of Jessica with her dad and sisters as they sang a special song at the reception!

It was a wonderful day and I am honored to be there capturing the special moments of their wedding day!

Becky & Terry's Wedding

The forcast for May 9th was cold and rainy. God heard the prayers going up on behalf of Becky and Terry and instead provided a beautiful wedding day!

Our day began at Reflections Salon in Alpena where the girls were pampered and styled. From there we went to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. As Becky stepped into her wedding dress she transformed into one of the loveliest brides I've seen. The beautiful flowers were from Netta's Flowers in Posen. Everyone looked perfect!

Dan & Kate (my second shooters) met up the the guys at the Days Inn and were able to get some great shots of the groom and groomsmen. Terry was quite hansome in his tux!

After the wedding ceremony we headed to the Players Pub (where Terry first asked Becky out) and then to Presque Isle Harbor and The Portage for some outdoor shots. From there we drove to Posen where the reception was being held. From a tasty dinner, wonderful toasts by the maton-of-honor & best man, a touching bridal dance, cutting the cake to the tossing of the bouquet, it was a wonderful day!

A Winter Wedding...Erica & Adam

Jan. 31st started out cold and as the day progressed it got even colder but even the cold weather could not dampen the spirit or the love that Adam and Erica have for each other!

Our day began very early at Reflections Salon in Alpena where each girl's hair was given the perfect "do". From there we headed to St. Ann's Chuch. The bridesmaids got into their dresses and then helped Erica into hers. Finally it was time to walk down the aisle. The looks that Adam and Erica gave each other were priceless...very touching and emotional.

After the ceremony this group of brave men and women headed outdoors (the very cold outdoors) for some fun shots. We made a stop at the hospital where Erica visited her grandpa and then we headed to St. Ann's Hall for the reception.

It was a wonderful day and I was honored to be able to share it with them.

Jessi & Ben's Wedding

May 2, 2009 I drove across the beautiful Mackinaw Bridge to St. Ignace where I photographed Jessi and Ben's wedding. They were married at Zion Lutheran Church and their reception was held at Kewadin Casino. It was a lovely day; sunny but cool. Ben, Jessi and their attendants were so easy to work with and never once complained about the cool weather!

Ben and Jessi are so much in love and it shows! Thanks you two for letting me tag along with you and capture the special moments of your day!

Ashley & Kalep's Wedding

Many of you have commented on the engagement pictures from Ashley and Kalep that were taken down in Chattanooga, TN. They were such fun that day that I knew their wedding would be something special. Well, they tied-the-knot last fall down in Loganville, GA. and it was just as wonderful as I'd imagined it would be. This little Georgia peach was a dream to photograph. Jody & John's Wedding

John and Jody were married September 13th at St. Anne's Church in Alpena, MI. Jody was stunning in her gown (which had beautiful blue embroidery and beadwork) and John was quite handsome in his tux. Their daughter, Taylor, was so adorable as the flower girl, drawing many "ohhs" and "ahhhhs" from those who watched her come down the aisle.

After the wedding we went to the Posen Community Center for the reception where everyone had a great time. Check out some of my favorite pics of their beautiful wedding day.

Scott & Amber's Wedding

Every once in a while I have a couple who decide to see each other before the wedding ceremony; Scott and Amber are one of those couples. They wanted to take photographs before the wedding so they could enjoy the rest of the afternoon with the wedding party before going to the reception.

They planned a wonderful outdoor wedding in Grayling right on the river bank. Saturday, September 6th was a beautiful sunny day with a few clouds; that is until about half way through the ceremony! It started to drizzle and their wonderful minister was able to finish the vows in record time! After he pronounced them husband and wife and they walked briskly down the aisle it began to pour! The rain could not dampen Amber and Scott's spirits though and they never stopped smiling. And, because most of the photographs were already taken, I was quite relieved! The rain didn't last very long and we were able to finish the outdoor pics at the Officer's Club at Camp Grayling were the reception was held.

Amber and Scott are now living in beautiful Traverse City. Check out the pics from this great couple's wedding. Blessings Amber and Scott!

Kristen & Scott's Wedding

I have been so busy with weddings and seniors that I have not had time to update my blog! I'll try to catch up over the next few weeks but let's begin with Kristen and Scott's wedding which took place in Gaylord on August 30.

Following a lovely ceremony at St. Mary's Cathederal we headed out to Kristen's parents home where we got some great shots. From there we headed to Tree Tops Resort but on the way we stopped at a really cool old barn and took some pics there. Once we arrived at Tree Tops we headed to the golf course and finally on to the reception and all I can say is "Wow!" It was stunning! It was such a fun day.

About one month after the wedding Kristen called to say she wanted me to take some pictures of her (in her wedding dress) with her horse. So, I headed back to Gaylord on a gorgeous fall day and we took some amazing pics.

Kayla '09

August was a busy month with weddings and seniors! I'll be posting more weddings in the next few days but for now I'll post Kayla's Senior pics.

Kayla is a senior at Alpena High School. We had a great time shooting her photographs with her Cousin Nicole (whose post will be next). We started at the beach then headed downtown where the girls had some great spots picked out.

Jason & Courtney's Cinderella Wedding

I must be the most blessed Photographer around...I have one beautiful bride after another!

Courtney & Jason's Cinderella theme wedding was just beautiful; from the bride and groom - to the flowers - to the cake...it was a girl's dream come true!

Our day began at New Dimension Salon in Gaylord (which was just a wonderful place with the nicest staff around) where Courtney, her mom, her grandma and her bridesmaids had their hair styled and where Courtney had her make-up done. I love the shot of her lipstick being applied!

From there we headed over to St. Mary's Cathedral where everyone changed into their gowns and tuxes. Check out Jason in his Tux! After the ceremony we drove to Boyne City and got some wonderful shots by the lake and then we headed back to Gaylord for the reception. The hall looked great and cake was incredible; it looked like fabric was draped down the sides. A great meal, a romantic first dance, and emotional dance with dad and mom and then outdoors for a glorious sunset...a perfect ending to a perfect day!

Three Cousins

Brandon, Nicole and Kayla are cousins who happen to be graduating in 2009. They decided they wanted to get a few pictures taken together along with their individual senior portraits. We met at the beach in Alpena and from there headed downtown for a few more shots. It was a fun 2 1/2 hours!

I'll be posting Nicole and Kayla's images on the blog within the next week but thought for now I'd post the three of them together. Brandon, I'll be seeing you at the skate park in a few days to shoot your session!

Dave & Deedra

July 12, 2008 was beautiful; sunny and warm...a perfect day for a wedding! Deedra and Dave were married at St. Ignatius church in Rogers City, MI. After the ceremony we headed down to the beach for some pics. I knew that the colors they chose for the flowers and dresses would photograph beautifully outdoors, and I was not disappointed.

From the beach we headed to The Waters Edge for the reception. The color choice of the cake was a photographer's dream come true!

I had such fun...from the moment I arrived at Deedra's house until the special dances were over and I drove away as the sun was setting. Thank you Deedra and Dave for allowing me to capture your special moments on your wedding day! Best wishes and may God bless you and your family!

Amy-Kaye's Senior Pictures

I love what I do! Not only do I get to photograph newborn babies, spend the day with brides, grooms and their attendants, capture the tender moments of couples who are engaged, watch and photograph the interaction of families, but I also get to hang out with great people like Amy-Kaye!

I traveled down to Clarkston for Amy-Kaye's senior pictures. We spent two hours together -- in her yard, down at depot park, downtown Clarkston and then wrapped up the shoot on the sidewalk at her high school! Oh, I almost forgot to mention the "Mystery Machine"! Anyone familiar with Scooby-doo knows about this van. Well, some friends of the family own one just like it and allowed us to take some pics there. It was so much fun! Thanks Amy-Kaye!

Becky & Terry's Engagement

Becky and Terry's wedding date is written in the sand...and you'll see it in one of their engagement pictures! I met up with them at Fireside Inn and from there we headed over to Presque Isle Harbor. About mid-way through our shoot we got a little rain shower which produced not one, but two rainbows. We were able to get some beautiful shots of it and them at the harbor. Terry & Becky are just the sweetest couple and so cute together. I'm already looking forward to their wedding which I'm sure will be great fun!

The Little Ballerina

A few weeks ago at the Hoppe wedding, long before anyone else was dancing, I saw this beautiful little girl twirling on the dance floor. Immediately my camera started clicking as I couldn't resist snapping shots of her. When I spoke to her mother I learned that her daughter had never taken dance lessons but that she loved to watch Ballet on television.

Also on the dance floor was an adorable little boy...her Prince Charming. Watch the interaction between these two in the photographs below. While dancing she noticed him but he was not interested in dancing. She didn't give up and grabbed him. He danced for a few moments and then he left her and walked off the dance floor. The little ballerina paused briefly and then continued to dance alone. Priceless!!!

E.J. & Lindsay's Wedding

Lindsay's & E.J.'s wedding was held in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula. I love driving across the Mackinaw Bridge, it's so beautiful! It was a gorgeous sunny day; not too hot and a light breeze...perfect for an outdoor wedding.

Lindsay was absolutely breathtaking in her wedding gown and E.J was so handsome...what an adorable couple! They were so much fun too! By the way, E.J. is one of the brave members of our armed services...Thank you E.J.!

Catching up with former brides and grooms

Recently at Kristen and Andrew Kowalski's wedding I had the opportunity to catch up with two couples whose weddings I had photographed. I thought I'd post an update on them.

Christi and Andy Lewandowski were married last July in Rogers City, MI. They were (and still are) are very caring couple. They had a beautiful wedding and we were able to get great pictures on the beach. After seeing them a few weeks ago it's apparent that they are still as much in love today as they were on July 21, 2007.

Also at the wedding were Sara and Ryan Krafft who were celebrating their 3 week anniversary! As you can see from the pictures they are still happy, smiling and very much in love. Their wedding was so much fun! I'll never forget them dancing their first dance outdoors. Sara and Ryan are now living in Ohio where I'm sure they will be blessed with friends and good times.

Here's one from the wedding and one from a few weeks ago.

Although Chrissy and Aaron Playford were not at the wedding I did get a card in the mail from them last week which led to a phone conversation with her. They are doing well and have moved near Grand Rapids. These two hold a special place in my heart. I've know Chrissy since she was in elementary school and played softball on a team that I coached. I'll be visiting them soon (my son and daughter-in-law live there) and we'll have dinner and catch up on one anothers lives.

I don't have a recent picture of them but here are two from their wedding; June 23, 2007. Blessing to both of you and Happy Anniversary!

Fairy Tales Can Come True...

Little girls dream of being Cinderella and having Prince Charming come along and make all of their dreams come true. Over the past several years I have watched Kristen travel through adolescence into womanhood; but on June 28th I watched as, right before my eyes, she turned into Cinderella! As I captured these moments for her...I cried; just as I knew I would. Her Fairy Tale was coming true and everyone around her felt it. When her Fairy God Mother (mom) helped her into her dress...she felt it. When dad walked into the room to see his little girl...he felt it. When Prince Charming (also known as Andrew) saw her coming down the aisle... he felt it. By the time the night was over...we all felt it. We each had a small role in Kristen and Andrew's Fairy Tale.

Connie & Jeremiah's Wedding

June 21st I was honored to shoot the wedding of Connie and Jeremiah. Their theme was "Dreams Do Come True" and their wedding day lived up to it's title. Connie was stunning and just radiated happiness all day long. Jeremiah didn't look too bad either! After the ceremony they were chauffeured around in a 1932 black Cadillac. How sweet is that? I had a great time with them and I look forward to seeing them again soon. Yes, dreams do come true...so keep on dreaming Connie and Jeremiah! I wish for you many, many happy years together!

Deedra & Dave's E Session

My how fast this summer is going! I thought I'd post another engagment couple since their wedding is less than one month away. I met up with Deedra and Dave in Rogers City at Herman Vogler Conservation Area where we took a few photos before heading downtown to shoot at a wonderful red wall. I was happy when I saw the two of them in front of that wall...the color just popped! Then we headed down to the beach for a stunning sunset. Here are a few of my faves!

Another Wonderful Wedding!

Sara and Ryan were married June 7 on the shore of Lake Huron. It was a beautiful, sunny day and as you can see most of the pictures were taken outdoors.

Sara wore a "princess bride" gown for the ceremony and then put on an elegant gown for the reception. She was stunning in both! Ryan and the guys went a little more casual in their attire and it was a perfect choice, as you can see how great they look.

This wedding was such fun! I attended school with Sara's parents, Glen and Carol, so it was great to see them again. Thank you Sara and Ryan for allowing me to capture your day. May you be blessed with many wonderful years of marriage.

May 31 kicked off the season of summer weddings with beautiful Jolene and her handsome husband, Scott. Although it rained off and on that day the sun cooperated and peeked through so we could do a few outdoor photographs.

Scott and Jolene were married right here in my hometown of Posen. Rich in Polish heritage, this wedding did it's hometown proud! Tasty polish food, a great Polka Band (which brought several generations to the dance floor) and great fun! Scott is Irish and his heritage was included too even down to the Claddagh on the guest book. The claddagh stands for Loyalty, Friendship and Love...all of which I hope for you!

Introducing Aiden Eric Olsen

Friday I took a short drive to photograph a newborn baby; Aiden Eric Olsen. And what a beautiful little boy he is! I've know his mom, Kristy since she was a little girl so this was a special treat for me.

Kristy and husband Rob chose Eric as Aiden's middle name, in honor of Kristy's brother who passed away last October. I hope that little Aiden bring joy and happiness to the entire family.

Sonja & Ryan's Engagement Session

Another beautiful bride-to-be and her handsome soon-to-be husband! Sonja and Ryan live in Boyne City but traveled to Presque Harbor (where they first met) to have their engagement session done. They are such a warm, caring couple. It didn't take them long to feel comfortable in front of the camera.

We also had a first for me! The Presque Isle Lighthouse opened it's doors to us and Sonja and Ryan were allowed to climb to the top and go out on the balcony for a few pictures! A special thanks to the caretakers for allowing us to do that and for taking such wonderful care of the lighthouse and grounds.

Although I'm not shooting their wedding (I'm booked in Gaylord for that day) I was honored to be chosen to take their engagement pictures. Here are some of my favorites.

More Engagement Sessions

As promised here are two more engagement sessions of couples with upcoming weddings.

Connie and Jeremiah wanted to take both formal and informal pictures so I thought I'd post a few of each. It was a beautiful northern Michigan winter's day when we got together. A fresh snow was hanging heavy on the trees which made for some awesome photographs. Connie and Jeremiah are getting married June 21st (which happens to be my 33rd wedding anniversary!). They are just as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside.

I get a little bit emotional about the next bride-to-be. I've known Kristen for many years and I've watched her blossom into the beautiful, intelligent woman she is today. It is certainly an honor to be her wedding photographer. I'm looking forward to June 28th, but I'm sure I'll be wiping away a few tears between shoots. Engagement Sessions

My spring has been filled with wonderful couples getting their engagement pictures taken. Not every couple chooses to have engagement pictures taken, but I wish they did. I really enjoy these photo shoots as it gives the couples and me a chance to get to know each another. Here are some of the photos from their sessions. I'm listing them in order of the date of their weddings.

I drove to Romulus, where Jolene and Scott live, and we took a short drive to a local park where we had a great time and took lots of pictures. What a fun couple to hang out with! Jolene and Scott are getting married May 31st in Posen. I'm looking forward to this wedding...beautiful couple, great families, Polka dancing and just two miles from my house! See you in three weeks!

Sara and Ryan are getting married June 7th on the shore of Lake Huron. I meet up with Ryan and Sara at the park in Clarkston, Mi. (I have fond memories here because it's where my daughter Sarah married Curtis). They were so comfortable in front of the camera and it shows. Not only were they were warm and friendly but also open to anything I wanted to shoot. Sara even posed for my granddaughter Samantha who tagged along with me on this shoot (a future photogtapher in the works?). I can't wait to see Ryan and Sara again in just a few more weeks..aren't they cute?

My beautiful niece is getting married!

My niece, Ashley, is getting married and I have the honor of being her photographer!

She and her fiance Kalep attend Union University in Tennessee and since I was down in Chattanooga for a wedding photography workshop we decided it would be a good time to do their engagement pictures. After classes on Wednesday they made the four hour trip and we began the engagement session. My daughter Summer went with us and it's a good thing she did! She kept us moving since we only had about 1 1/2 hours of shooting time. We finished after sunset and then they drove back to college.

They are such a cute couple and it's obvious to everyone that they are very much in love. Here are a few of my favorites.

Kentucky Seniors!

What a week this has been! Last Friday I flew down to Knoxville, rented a car and drove up to Mt. Vernon, Kentucky to visit friends and take some senior pictures. It was such fun! I enjoyed spending time with Steve, Sherri, Darrin and Kristyna McKinney. Sherri had arranged for me to not only photograph her son Darrin, but five other seniors as well. I thought I'd post some of shots from the weekend.

Friday evening I met Chris and his mom. Chris is was willing to go along with any ideas I came up with including climbing a tree! These are a few of my favorite pics.

Saturday morning I shot Darrin's pictures. I've know him since he was about 10 years old and he has matured into such a nice young man. I'm proud of you Darrin and may God bless you in all that you do!

After Darrin's session was over I had the opportunity to meet Emily. What a lovely, sweet girl! I think she looks a little like Reese Witherspoon...what do you think?

Next was Kelly...and did we have fun! Kelly is a cute girl with a bubbly personality, and a beautiful smile! You can't help but smile when she's around. I wish you all the best, Kelly!

I had about a 30 minute break before I began taking Nicole's pictures. Not only is she beautiful on the outside, she is just as beautiful on the inside. I really enjoyed meeting you Nicole and if you decide to go into the modeling business I can't wait to say, "I had the pleasure of taking her Sr. pictures."

The last session of the day was Ashley. Love her against that red barn door! Ashley thinks she might study photography after she graduates. Maybe she can work with me when I return next year to take pictures of the class of 2009...what about it Ashley?

Not only is Kentucky a beautiful state; it's also filled with beautiful people! Thanks for making me feel at home. I can't wait to return.

A Four Generation Wedding!

This past February my mom passed away after a long battle with Ovarian Cancer. She and my dad were married for over 50 years, so you can imagine how lost he was without her. He filled his time with Hospice grief sessions, church and dinners at different Senior Citizens groups around the state, which is how he met Eileen. With the OK from us kids to "see" her, their friendship turned to love and on Sept. 8, 2007 they were married at my sister Kathy's home.

It is not often a photographer gets to shoot a four generation wedding, let alone her father's! My brother, Ron, was best man; my neice, Taylor, did a reading, and my grandbabies, Samantha and Jack, were flower girl and ring bearer. So we had Father, son, granddaughter, great-granddaugher and great-grandson in the wedding! How cool is that?

Today I joined the world of bloggers. I will attempt to keep everyone informed and up-to-date on what is happening at Vicki Lynn Photography.

Recently I had the opportunity to photograph the wedding of Chrissy and Aaron. They were an adorable couple and I had a lot of fun that day. Their wedding was on the beach of Lake Hurn in Rogers City, Mi. The weather was perfect! The pictures from their wedding should be up on the website by Wednesday, Aug. 8.
